Martial Law is a system of governance in which military takes control of law enforcement and running the country or a part of the country. In Pakistan its not a "system" , its just a tool of corrupt and power hungry Army officers to spend more time in their powerful positions and to plunder their own country.
They don't care about their oath and have a bad habit of suspending or completely eliminating the constitution. According to 1973 constitution of Pakistan this practise comes under the category of treason. Hence These martial law administrators are nothing but traitors.
These are the worst periods of history of Pakistan ,a disgrace to the nation. I have explained them one by one in the links given below
First Martial Law (October 1958 to March 1969)
Second Martial Law (March 1969 to April 1972)
Third Martial Law (July 1977 to August 1988)
Forth Martial Law (October 1999 to August 2008)
These humiliating Martial Laws have left many bleeding wounds , it will take a lot of time to cure them. Democracy was never allowed to flourish , political parties were destroyed, judiciary is nothing but a joke, constitution was neglected, our sovereignty was compromised, country got divided, civil liberties were bulldozed, civil institutions were destroyed, masses were left uneducated and all of this was done by our own Army. They have lost their right to be respected.
The most disturbing fact is that Army never learned from the past and no action was taken against these traitors. Yahya khan who was responsible for braking Pakistan was buried with full honour and military protocol. Musharraf is still roaming freely, there are some patriotic Pakistanis who follow him with shoes in their hands but our government is still providing cover to this traitor. In fact President Zardari is enjoying the powers given by Musharraf to him. Seeing all this I can say that there is a possibility of Martial Law in future again. But this time it will not be that easy and bloodless, people are fed up with these men in uniform, a disgrace to their own institution. They will be opposed and eventually humiliated. If they think that they can do whatever they want with the power of gun then there will be guns waiting for them. Whatever happening in FATA and NWFP is a "trailer" of a whole new episode, Similar things can happen in whole country IF our Army and their civilian supporters did not change their attitude.

kashif u have a clear vision !!
ReplyDeleteKashif.. thanks for speaking honestly and truthfull.. I pray God grants Pakistan true democracy not a military state..
ReplyDeletePakistan had no other choice!!..army did the right thing....and this time on, it should happen again to save Pakistan on the world's map!...we need to get rid of corrupt ppl like jardari and nawaj.
ReplyDeleteArmy saved Pakistan by creating Bangladesh.... what a joke
ReplyDeleteLate Zulfiqar Bhutto,a victim of Martial Law himself, writes in his book..when a person joins Army in Pakistan, his first thought/goal is not to reach the post of the chief of staff but he sets his eyes on the Presidency..
ReplyDelete..the man behind the downfall of Pakistan is Gen. Zia-ul-Haq.
I won't blame marital law entirely for this
People like Nawaz Sharif and BB(may her soul RIP) who keep on talking about democracy, they are the ones during whose periods Pakistan suffered the most.Marital law was imposed because our leaders were corrupt, only interested in filling their pockets and were not capable to run the country.
ReplyDeleteBut lets hope things change and Democracy comes to Pakistan, because in the past Democray has been made a joke by people like Nawaz Sharif....
ReplyDeleteits heartening to note the younger generation of pak thinking differently.its sad that situations like ''imposing martial law'' were thrusted on a nation which cud have risen to great heights with the fruits of democracy. situations are made to go down the drain not in a day or two but slowly & steadily by uneducated people who get carried away by 'ideas' other than the LOGIC. I dont blame the youth & democratic forces in pakistan who were caught unaware and martial law had to be imposed. now as a well wisher of pakistan i feel ( may be i m wrong) that the future of the country lies in the THINKING YOUTH of pakistan who can create such an atmosphere in pakistan that the negative forces may have to take a beating by the masses. i dont boast of india being a fool proof democratic nation but look what a public opinion can do in the make / break of an institution-individual-party in a small time. for pakistan the youth should think.........
ReplyDelete1.who EXPLICITLY should govern their motherland (A) THE pure DEMOCRATIC GOVT(b) the army (c) army+ ISI (D)splinter groups who surface for some time to destabalise.
2.spend on education, make it compulsory for all to be educated till 10th class at the govt expense. halt all those forces who propogate not to let females be educated.
3. change the mindst abt india.let them mind their bussiness . you spend ur time & monesy in building ur infrastructure .
4 . improve production ( food grains, industrial products, exports) BRING young blodd like omar abullah, rajiv gandhi, etc etc into ur main stream.
5. our religons are most esteemed ones. keep them apart from day to day life and dont let negative people mix religon with politics.
i can forsee a stronger , self sufficient pakistan
another round of martial law apperas imminent. god alone knows which way the normal intelligentia of young pakistani friends will have to think for a wayout....
